Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset Review Specs

Corsair boasts that the Vengeance 2000 utilizes large 50mm drivers that deliver detailed sounds with more realism.

Corsair also notes that with this headset, you can enjoy tight bass response with good lows that do not get distorted while having voices remain crisp and clear.

Using these drivers, gamers are ensured that they will enjoy gaming and be at a competitive edge especially when this headset is used in tournaments.

In line with the audio you will get from its large drivers, this Corsair headset also makes use of Dolby Headphone technology 7.1 surround sound which allows gamers to turn to the direction of where the sound is coming from, thereby improving reactions drastically.

In addition to spatial accuracy, gamers will be treated in a realistic gaming environment thanks to the surround sound.

And because playing with friends is a must for gamers, the Vengeance 2000 employs a unidirectional, noise-canceling condenser microphone which Corsair guarantees players’ voices to be both loud and clear.

All of these great features can be used with the headset’s 10-hour battery life.

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless Review: Audio Quality

Right off the bat, after hearing how well Corsair has built the Vengeance 2000, people should be expecting top of the line audio quality, and this headset does have its good points and its bad ones. The overall audio quality is good, with the headset staying true to its promise of delivering detailed sounds.

Going into the audio quality with more detail, you can expect to get the bass quality to be really smooth and not overwhelming compared to other gaming headsets; the lows are quite nice, while the mids and highs are good as well.

Since the lows were given more attention, you will be hearing more detailed sounds, however, the in-game music does suffer a bit when it comes to the quality.

The 7.1 surround sound on the Vengeance 2000 has a good performance. It does give you an audio landscape, which helps gamers get an audio-realistic environment, thereby allowing for accurate reactions such as turning or shooting to where the sound is coming from.

While some would argue that the surround sound is not “true” with the lack of speakers, it still does a great job of giving you an accurate audio environment.

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset Headset, Mic, Warranty

The Corsair Vengeance 2000 is very comfortable to wear on one’s head. The ear cups have this memory foam padding on them and are covered with a combination of leather and some type of microfiber fabric.

Once the ear cups get broken in and the memory foam remembers how your ears are, then the whole headset experience becomes very comfortable. The headband is also quite comfortable on the head and won’t really clamp down that hard on you head, at the same time, it can fit a variety of people’s head sizes.

Since all of the controls of the headset can be adjusted on the software (that needs to be downloaded), the ear cups are clutter-free.

On one of the ear cups, you will find the volume control with its very unique design of a rolling barrel for easier control.

On the same ear cup, you will also find the headset’s mini-USB charging port. The two are pretty much the only things of interest on the ear cups, which some gamers may find very limiting.

The uni-directional microphone, which measures at around six inches in length, works pretty well and does deliver on Corsair’s promise of one’s voice being loud and clear.

It works properly when you are communicating with other party members with your voice being heard clearly. While there is no mute button, one can simply swivel the mic up to mute it instantly.

One feature that should be mentioned about the Vengeance 2000 is the software you will be using with it. You can customize how you want things to sound on the software, or you can go through the nine different custom presets available: four for music, two for gaming (FPS and MMO), one for watching movies, and the final two presets are for your own tinkering.

The Vengeance 2000 is under a two-year warranty that does not cover factors such as wear and tear, abuse, accident, and etc.

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless Review: Worth Your Money?

The Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset costs around $240 for a new one, while a refurbished one will cost you roughly $80. This gaming headset is a really good one, to be honest, as there are a number of praise-worthy things on it.

The sound quality is good, the surround sound also performs well, and the entire headset itself is comfortable to wear. The microphone also functions well, and the software that allows you to control the audio and the different custom presets all very good and useful.

However, if you are looking for a PC-only gaming headset or a headset that can work on various platforms, for Vengeance 2000’s price isn’t really that worth it. Sure it has many good things going for it, but there are other brands that perform better when it comes to being exclusive to PC or even being compatible with several different platforms.

While the software to control the audio is good, this feature can be seen on other gaming headsets which are roughly on the same price range.

When you are looking for a good refurbished gaming headset, then by all means, get the Corsair Vengeance 2000, but getting a new one for the price of $240, to be honest, is not that worth it.
